What is Remote Access?
People at remote branch offices, telecommuters, and those traveling can now
have access to their files, data, desktop and programs remotely - just as if
they were on the network at the office. Home users can gain secure remote
access through their existing Internet Service provider (ISP). More and more
wireless hotspots are popping up around the country at hotels, conference
centers, cafés, and libraries. No matter what the connection your
remote employees will be able to remotely and securely access your corporate
network.
How Does It Work?
A remote access server (or remote terminal server) is the computer and
associated software that is set up to handle users seeking access to network
remotely. A remote access server usually includes or is associated with a
firewall server to ensure security and a router that can forward the remote
access request to the remote user.
